So I'm surprised how comfortable it is being perpetually underground in Core Keeper. Part of it is the charming art and animation, along with the dynamic lighting effects. The game begins in the gloom of the Core chamber, but place a few torches and clear out some dirt walls with a pickaxe, and soon the room is bathed in warm light.
And after killing a tremendous boss monster made of orange goo, a little bearded man with a hat popped out of the slimy remains of the beast. I built him a little room with a bed and now he lives with me.
When playing in a group, I suppose you can build up an item pool where everyone can find the things they need. But when playing solo, you sometimes just have to farm specific enemies until the one item you're after drops eventually.
Mana: Your reserve of energy for casting magic. Mana recharges fairly quickly, but some magical weapons can use a hefty amount of Mana for a single attack.
Start digging through the walls around you, aiming for any shiny stuff. This will get you some dirt and ore, so craft your furnace at the workbench. That allows you to melt the copper ore to upgrade your pickaxe and craft a sword to take care of some of the slimes you might see nearby.

My main issue with core keeper is that the progression of combat and the player character feels so incredibly shallow that I felt like I had played with the same simplistic combat since the very first minute of the game. There are "skill trees" but they level up very passively, and offer dull upgrades that don't affect how the game is played, but rather serve as slow boosts that reward you for doing the same thing over and over again. A milestone-based progression system Core Keeper Gameplay in which you perhaps achieve certain feats to unlock these points could've made for a more engaging system, but even that would fall short due to the simplicity of the upgrades being offered.

Personally I'm recommending the game for solo players (pelo personal experience with multiplayer yet). I enjoyed it a lot, I found it quite polished for an Early Access game, and with more contet coming, it's bound to get even better.

Wood Pickaxe helps mine the soft dirt biome walls more quickly. All walls can be slowly broken by punching continuously (except obsidian).
Copper Hoe tills the ground for planting seeds, to begin gardening. Hoes are also effective for lifting ground covering tiles and harvesting plants.
Roots pelo longer continue spawning in explored areas in the crystal biome. Environmental objects will no longer continue to spawn right next to the world edge. Fixed an issue where objects would not be rendered after the player was killed by a hydra boss.
